In Light of the “Ethanol Subsidies” talk… - August 5, 2010

The ethanol industry has used a few subsidies to help attain the efficiency it enjoys today. These subsidies, however, are often fiercely attacked, frequently by groups with interests in opposition to those of ethanol, such as the oil industry.  Despite this rhetoric, the oil industry itself continues to reap large benefits from a number of outdated subsidies that it spends hundreds of millions of dollars in lobbying to protect.  The New York Times released an article on July 3 regarding some of these subsidies in light of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.
