Below you will find descriptions of the various job types here at the plant, as well as a sample of the job functions each position fulfills.
Team members handle the daily receiving of grain and the daily shipping of ethanol, DDG, and modified feed stock. Duties include the loading of shipping containers, rail tank cars, and trucks, while assisting truck customers with the unloading of grain. Performance of these duties requires the use of fork trucks, wheel loaders, skid steers, and operating the rail switch engine.
Preventative maintenance duties within the grains department are performed by the material handlers, and assistance is given to the maintenance department when needed. Work is preformed year round, both indoors and outdoors, often during inclement weather. Material handlers need to be able to work at elevated heights as grain silos are over 150 feet in height.
Maintenance technicians ensure the successful operation of the facility on a day to day basis. Their goal is to maintain uptime at the plant year round. Duties include general troubleshooting, repair, and installation of various systems and machines throughout the plant. Strong emphasis on preventative maintenance is expected. Working on pumps, fans, boilers, motors, rolling stock, conveyors, and other equipment are daily activities.
Technicians must be mechanically inclined with experience in welding, pipefitting, electrical troubleshooting, and other general maintenance tasks. Technicians are required to perform their work during inclement weather, and at times, they must do so at heights in excess of 150 feet. Maintenance Technicians are also required to be available for on-call status at scheduled intervals.
The Production Operator position is responsible for monitoring the process of converting milled corn to ethanol. These positions offer support to the control room and production supervisor in the production process. The primary goal is to assure safe and efficient production by responding to changing conditions throughout the plant in a timely manner. Job functions include:
- Assisting the Production Supervisor in maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the plant.
- Basic oversight of the pumps, valves, and other instruments used throughout the ethanol process.
- Monitoring and recording data from flow meters, temperature indicators, and pressure gauges.
- Conducting tests to ensure the accuracy of electronic instruments.
- Performing lab tests to certify the quality of products prior to shipment.
- Adjusting valves and switches to maintain specified conditions, maximizing conversion of corn to ethanol and minimizing gas consumption per gallon of ethanol.
